Open End Contract Engineering Services for PennDOT

Sci-Tek provided environmental and geotechnical services as part of an Open End Agreement with PennDOT. As a subconsultant to Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc., Sci-Tek completed the following four task orders:

  • Phase 1 Design and Construction Administration for a Brine Containment, and Salt Storage Building, and Associated Site Modifications, Westmoreland County Stockpile #01 - PennDOT is constructing four above ground storage tanks at the facility located in Greensburg, PA. The tanks will be used to store brine, sodium chloride solution.
    • Environmental services including an asbestos inspection, lead-based paint sampling and Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) Sampling
    • Geotechnical exploration and written report to help facilitate the design of the above ground brine storage tanks.
  • Phase 1 Design and Construction Administration - Design for Construction of Timber Framed Building at Salina Stockpile #28:
    • Geotechnical exploration and writen report to help facilitate the design and construction of the proposed timber frame salt shed.
  • Phase 1 Design and Construction Administration - Design for Construction of Timber Framed Building w/ Lean-to at Westmoreland County Stockpile #01:
    • Geotechnical exploration and writen report to help facilitate the design and construction of the proposed timber frame salt shed.
  • Demolition of a Salt Domar and Construction of Husky Salt Building at Ligonier Stockpile #19:
    • Geotechnical exploration and writen report to help facilitate the demolition and construction of the proposed salt building.
