Carnegie Mellon University retained architectural firm KieranTimberlake for the design and construction of The New Scaife Hall. This project includes demolition of the existing Scaife Hall and construction of a new structure, doubled in size. The new Scaife Hall will be an 85,000 sf, 4-story building and will include research laboratories, faculty offices, classrooms, areas for individual and collaborative student projects, space for simulation and training, conference rooms, and an underground parking facility.  Sci-Tek is providing the following services:

GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES

  • Subsurface exploration
  • Geotechnical analyses based on the reviewed and collected data obtained including estimating soil and rock properties, slope stability, feasibility of foundation alternatives, and allowable geotechnical capacities of the subsurface soil and rock encountered

SURVEYING SERVICES

  • Topographic survey of existing site conditions
  • Survey and mapping of utility markings for underground utilities
  • Staking of geotechnical test boring locations
