Located in Cumberland County, Children's Lake is a 7-acre impoundment owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and managed by the Fish and Boat Commission (Commission) for public fishing and boating. The Commission’s plan for Children’s Lake Dam includes spillway and abutment improvements with ADA compliant sidewalk and roadway restoration, sediment removal, storm water treatment facilities, and stream bank and aquatic habitat improvements. For this project, Sci-Tek provided the following surveying services:

Topographic Survey

  • Surveyed existing site conditions including details on existing improvements, buildings, curbs, shoulders, ramps, sidewalks, islands, pavement, curb inlets, signs, traffic signals, manholes, storm drain inlets, hydrants, valves, vaults, poles and other visible above ground utility appurtenances.
  • Surveyed stacked stone wall along the northeast side including elevations and location of the top and bottom of the wall, as well as the edge of the walking path immediately adjacent to the wall.

Boundary Survey

  • Prepared and sent letters to adjoining property owners
  • Performed the necessary research to obtain the record documents containing the metes and bounds description(s) or reference to a subdivision plan of the subject tract(s).
  • Computed the geometry of the subject and adjoining tract(s) and deeds.
  • Performed a boundary retracement survey of the subject tract(s) pursuant to the Pennsylvania Society of Surveyors Manual of Practice.
  • Prepared a drawing showing the results of the boundary retracement survey.
