Real Estate Development Program Environmental Assessments
Sci-Tek was retained by Mon Valley Initiative (MVI) to provide environmental services for several redevelopment projects. MVI is a full-service, non-profit, community development coalition working to revitalize communities in the Mon Valley area, located along the Monongahela and Youghiogheny Rivers in Allegheny, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Sci-Tek provided lead-based paint testing and clearance testing at several locations including residential houses, apartments, and other locations such as civic centers, churches, hotels, and theaters.
- Evaluation of painted surfaces within the building utilizing an X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) direct reading/data-logging instrument.
- Onsite dust wipe samples are collected as part of the inspection / risk assessment. Soil samples are collected on the exterior of the dwelling if bare soil areas are present.
- Final clearance inspections are conducted after renovation work is completed.
- Thorough and detailed technical reports with results and recommendations.
In addition to lead based paint inspections, Sci-Tek conducted asbestos inspections for blighted and abandoned residential properties in North Braddock and Rankin, PA that were targeted to be demolished or renovated. The renovation properties were surveyed for asbestos and lead-based paint, and the demolition properties were surveyed for asbestos.
- Collection of ACM bulk samples. Over 200 samples were collected in the North Braddock and Rankin residences.
- Lead-based paint (LBP) surveys on the properties slated for renovation.
