Dewberry was retained by PennDOT for an open-end agreement to provide a wide range of waste management, pollution prevention, environmental, and health & safety services. As a subconsultant to Dewberry, Sci-Tek has provided environmental services on the following task orders:
Waste Oil Tank Sampling – performed waste oil sampling at the Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, and Jefferson County facilities, with subsequent laboratory analysis for TCLP volatiles. Provided a final report with the results of laboratory analysis, comparison to governmental hazardous waste threshold limits, and laboratory reports.
Beaver County Mold Study – conducted a mold survey at the facility in Rochester to evaluate the existing conditions of the Staging Building. Provided a final report with results of the laboratory analysis and recommendations on remediation to correct the microbial problem.
Squirrel Hill Tunnel – conducted asbestos and lead-containing paint surveys at the Squirrel Hill Tunnel cross passages, including gray cementitious materials/coatings. Provided a final report with results of the laboratory analysis and recommendations on further actions.
Liberty Tunnel – conducted a mold survey at the Liberty Tunnel South End to evaluate the existing conditions of the field office due to a leak along a seam along the wall and ceiling of the tunnel office. Provided a final report with results of the laboratory analysis and recommendations on further actions.
Lawrence County Mold Study – conducted a mold survey at the Lawrence County facility in New Castle following multiple instances of flooding of the garage facility. Provided a final report with results of the laboratory analysis and recommendations on remediation to correct the microbial problem.
Jefferson County Mold and Dust Study – conducted a mold and dust survey in the basement training room at the Jefferson County facility in Punxsutawney. An evaluation of dust and microbiological conditions was conducted to determine the extent of conditions from a previous water leak and a high perceived dust content. Provided a final report with results of the laboratory analysis and recommendations on further actions.
New Castle Ground Water Investigation – conducted a ground water investigation at the New Castle maintenance facility for the installation of temporary well points and subsequently four permanent monitoring wells. Collected ground water samples, assisted with the installation of temporary well points, and will conduct two quarterly ground water sampling events.
