The Lanpher Rising Main has served Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) for more than 100 years. PWSA is proposing to construct a redundant rising main to the Lanpher Reservoir located in Shaler Township. The proposed redundant rising main will commence at the existing Aspinwall Pump Station located at the PWSA’s Aspinwall Water Treatment Plant (AWTP) and extend approximately 22,500 linear feet (LF) to the Lanpher Reservoir. For this project, Sci-Tek provided the following environmental services:
- PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT SCREENING - The Phase I ESA screening researched and summarized readily available current and historical information about the project corridor and adjacent properties to identify potential recognized environmental conditions.
- PHASE I ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT UPDATE - After selection of the final water main route, the Phase I Screening ESA was updated by performance of the following supplemental tasks:
- Task 1 – Preliminary Soil Screening and Geologic Characterization
- Task 2 – Interviews
- Task 3 – Deed Review
- Task 4 – PADEP file review
- Task 5 – Limited Phase II ESA
- Task 6 – Final Report
- GIS MAPPING – Completed for areas of environmental concern.
- PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT – Based on the results of the Phase I ESA, Sci-Tek provided a Phase II ESA to address recognized environmental conditions in the selected corridor.
