Sci-Tek provided surveying and geotechnical engineering services for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) Woods Run Stream Inflow – Mairdale Avenue Green Infrastructure Project. The Project is located in Pittsburgh's Brighton Heights neighborhood and is tributary to overflow O-27, one of the City's largest combined sewer overflow contributors. This project will redirect, capture, and detain the existing stream inflow surface runoff using a combination of surface and subsurface green infrastructure storage techniques.   As a subconsultant to Civil and Environmental Consultants, Inc., Sci-Tek provided the following services:

SURVEYING

  • Performed existing conditions survey such as buildings, curbs, shoulders, ramps, sidewalks, islands, pavement, curb inlets, signs, traffic signals, manholes, storm drain inlets, hydrants, valves, vaults, poles and other visible above ground utility appurtenances, and trees and/or tree lines.
  • Performed topographic survey drawing to show the details of the features surveyed

GEOTECHNICAL SUBSURFACE EXPLORATION

  • Drilled test borings and performed borehole infiltration testing at planned locations and depths
  • Installed monitoring wells
  • Provided geotechnical report with conclusions and recommendations
  • Provided other civil support services
