The Turtle Creek Flood Protection Project addresses a six‐mile‐long section of Turtle Creek, immediately upstream of the Monongahela River, in the downstream areas of Thompson Run and Brush Creek. The purpose of this project is to establish a perpetual permit that allows for routine maintenance and dredging of the flood control project to maintain the existing channel bottoms and debris basins. Maintenance operations will be supplemented with various erosion and sedimentation controls including sediment cleanout areas, rock construction entrances, filter sock barriers around contractor staging areas, and temporary cofferdams supported by pumped filter bags within the channel. As a subconsultant to D’Appolonia Engineering, Sci-Tek is provided the following surveying and wetland services.
WETLAND DELINEATION
- A wetland delineation survey of 5 specific investigation area wetlands and waterways to determine and verify whether jurisdictional wetlands were present. The scope of work included identification of wetland hydrology, hydrophytic vegetation, and hydric soils, and flagging or marking the boundaries of wetlands or newly identified tributaries which were found at the project site.
- A wetland delineation report suitable for design and permitting purposes including a CAD drawing which showed identified jurisdictional wetland areas.
SURVEYING
- A ground survey of wetland areas and newly identified tributaries within the defined project area, as identified, delineated, and marked.
- An existing conditions survey drawing showing the features surveyed.
