Bostwick Design Partnership (Bostwick) was selected by the University of Pittsburgh to conduct a stacking study for Thackeray Hall to create a more functional work space. The 20K + sq./ft. renovation project, which includes floors ground through three, currently houses the Student Financial Services, Registrar, Arts and Sciences, Freshman Studies, and Math Studies offices. Sci-Tek was retained by Bostwick to provide the following environmental design services.
- An Asbestos and Hazardous Materials Survey – Sci-Tek provided EPA-accredited and Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry certified Asbestos Building Inspectors to collect bulk asbestos samples, submit them to a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program accredited laboratory, perform a hazardous building materials survey, and prepare a final report inclusive of recommended response actions.
- Abatement Design Services - Sci-Tek provided design and bid phase services, including specifications for abatement of asbestos and removal of hazardous building materials, and an abatement plan drawing.
- Air Monitoring Services - Sci-Tek will also provide area and clearance air monitoring during asbestos abatement activities to document compliance with applicable regulations, and home office support inclusive of assistance with responses to questions and general project oversight.
