INDUSTRY:
Water and Sewer

LOCATION:
Pittsburgh, PA

CLIENT:
Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority

Sci-Tek is providing engineering support services for the PWSA South Side Park Green Infrastructure Project. This project is designed to capture and manage wet weather flows and point source mine drainage flows, by means of constructed wetlands, decetrailized underground storage, and sewer separation in the M-16 Sewershed. The goal of the project is to help reduce combined sewer overflow and neighborhood flooding. As a subconsultant to Ethos Collaborative, Sci-Tek provided the following services:

Preliminary Design Services

  • Stream Flow Monitoring
    • Installation and maintenance
    • Data management
    • Prepared flow monitoring report
  • Water Quality Sampling
    • Performed water quality sampling in areas of mine-related discharge and groundwater seeps.
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
    • Reviewed the site’s history, current and previous uses, utilities, operations, management, waste management practices, and other environmental considerations.
    • Performed a site reconnaissance to evaluate the exterior of buildings of the site to identify evidence of recognized environmental conditions that may require environmental sampling or remedial action.
    • Prepared a Phase I ESA report.
  • Geotechnical Subsurface Exploration
    • Drilled test borings and performed borehole infiltration tests for proposed green stormwater infrastructure facilities
    • Prepared geotechnical report

Final Design Services

  • Provided civil engineering support services for final design including developing project plans and specifications.
