CDM Smith was retained by the Port Authority of Allegheny County (PAAC) for an on-call agreement to provide architectural design services including transit passenger facilities design and general building design. As a subconsultant to CDM Smith, Sci-Tek has provided services on the following task orders:
DORMONT STATION UPGRADES - includes a refinement of station conceptual design, including the station platform, amenities, signage, and access and Raleigh Avenue streetscape and sidewalk improvements. Sci-Tek provided the following services:
- Site Civil Design - 30% design development services including existing conditions plan, conceptual site plan, utility plan and roadway plan; ASTM Level C subsurface utility investigation; AutoCAD turning radius for the design bus for making the proposed turns into and out of the site; and coordination of preliminary stormwater detention sizing and connection point.
NEGLEY STATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM DESIGN - includes a new entrance plaza and structure, upgrades to the walk from the Negley bridge, the boarding platforms, canopies, and lighting, and installation of a concrete medium barrier along the centerline to improve safety. Sci-Tek provided the following services:
- Land Surveying - topographic survey of the existing site conditions and a survey of the acceleration / deceleration lanes that will be affected by the installation of the concrete medium barrier.
- Site Civil Design - demolition, site grading, stormwater, erosion and sedimentation control, site improvement, utility, maintenance and protection of traffic, signage and pavement marking drawings; stormwater management plan; an erosion and sediment control plan; and technical specifications.
BELASCO STATION RELOCATION – includes a relocation 150-feet west of the intersection, a raised concrete platform 9 inches above the roadway, an ADA accessible ramp for access, and installation of attenuators for protection of the raised station from vehicular traffic. Sci-Tek provided the following services:
- Land Surveying - topographic survey of existing site conditions and the set up of three horizontal and vertical benchmarks for future use.
- Site Civil Design - demolition, site improvement, erosion and sedimentation control, utility, maintenance and protection of traffic, signage and pavement marking drawings; technical specifications; and construction administrative services
