Sci-Tek provided a topographic and utility survey for a Green Stormwater Infrastructure project at the Lawn and Ophelia Parklet for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA). For this project, Sci-Tek provided the following:

  • A field survey to establish horizontal & vertical control points that were referenced to the State Plane Coordinate System (PA South) NAD 83 horizontal datum. The vertical datum was NAVD 88. Survey control was established using the KeyNet GPS network (VRS method).
  • Web entry design ticket entry with the PA One Call System.
  • A topographic survey of the existing site conditions of the area which comprises approximately 4.6 acres. The survey included:
  • details of the streets extending to the back of sidewalks including mailboxes, retaining walls, driveways, parking areas, bollards, guide rails, street curbing, centerlines, pavement edges, sidewalks, curb inlets, catch basins, signs, traffic signals, utility poles, support poles, guy wires, above ground wires
  • above ground utility appurtenances such as valves, manholes, grates, hydrants, vaults and other pertinent features
  • sewer cleanouts, water valves, gas valves, other utility boxes, existing trees, shrubs and tree lines within ten feet of the right-of-way line
  • underground utility flags or paint markings placed by the owners of utilities, and
  • data on sewer rim/catch basin grate and invert elevations, pipe diameters and materials, and flow directions.
  • Photographs of each storm drain or sanitary structure.
  • A survey drawing which showed the details of the features surveyed and the approximate street right-of-way lines.
  • A CSV file containing points.
