Sci-Tek provided surveying and geotechnical engineering associated with the Larimer/East Liberty Park Planning and Design Services Project located in the Larimer section of Pittsburgh.
Larimer, along with a portion of East Liberty, was recently awarded a federal Choice Neighborhoods Grant for comprehensive redevelopment. A major goal of the Larimer Vision Plan is to establish Larimer’s identity as a state-of-art green community. Green strategies outlined in the Larimer Vision Plan include: stabilizing and greening vacant lots and creating the community garden; expanding urban architecture and growing opportunities; developing green infrastructure; incorporating green building practices; and creating new park land.
Sci-Tek provided the following services:
- Surveying - including a topographic and boundary survey and a plot plan showing existing conditions of the site, 1-foot contours, and available utility information.
- Geotechnical – including geotechnical engineering recommendations to support the design of proposed stormwater facilities.
- Review of existing logs and data for test borings drilled by others near the proposed stormwater weir and footbridge.
- A geotechnical subsurface exploration for the proposed subsurface stormwater detention facility.
- A report containing opinions and conclusions on fill, soil, rock, and groundwater conditions based on the data obtained at the test boring locations, visual observations, and laboratory test results.
