Sci-Tek provided geotechnical engineering and construction inspection services for the $1.27M Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) Hillcrest Green Infrastructure Project. The Hillcrest Project is located on a vacant lot in the Garfield neighborhood. PWSA is implementing three bioretention areas with underground storage, a walkway through the parcel, and flex pavement. This system will effectively handle runoff from 1.6 acres of impervious surfaces from the surrounding area and will be a visible asset to the community with landscaping and a walkway.

Sci-Tek provided the following geotechnical engineering services as part of the Arcadis design team:

  • Performed a geotechnical subsurface exploration for the proposed green stormwater infrastructure facilities including test borings and test pits for subsurface characterization at proposed site facilities and infiltration testing at green stormwater infrastructure facilities.
  • Provided geotechnical engineering recommendations to support the design of the proposed green stormwater infrastructure facilities.

Sci-Tek provided the following construction inspection services as part of the AECOM construction management team:

  • Attended weekly site meetings
  • Made site visits to inspect ongoing construction during a 5 month period
  • Prepared field reports and uploaded site photos
