Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) is building a new pump station known as the George’s Hill Pump Station to provide a redundant source of supply for the Belmont High Pump Station in the event that it is inoperable. As part of this project, the Belmont High Pump Station tank and piping will also be upgraded. As a subconsultant to HDR, Sci-Tek provided the following services:
SURVEYING
- Provided a topographic survey of the existing site conditions and an existing conditions survey drawing showing the features surveyed for a 30-inch ductile iron transmission main from GHPS, interconnection improvements, and a combined sanitary sewer pipeline required for support of the new pump station.
- Provided a topographic survey of the tract of land at the NE intersection of north George’s Hill Drive and South George’s Hill Drive and performed 3D scanning at the Belmont High Pump Station.
ENVIRONMENTAL
- Provided a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment to provide a professional opinion on the potential for Recognized Environmental Conditions, which may require remedial action, to exist on the subject lot located northeast of the intersection of North Georges Hill Drive and South Georges Hill Drive.
GEOTECHNICAL
- Provided geotechnical engineering services including test borings and infiltration testing for the construction of the George’s Hill Pump Station building and green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) facilities.
- Provided geotechnical engineering services including test borings and lab testing for the construction of hydropneumatic tank and site piping at Belmont High Pump Station.
- Performed Level A Test Hole/Pot Holing Services to identify the underground utilities.
- Prepared Geotechnical Reports for the proposed George’s Hill pump station building and GSI facilities and the current Belmont High pump station presenting conclusions and recommendations based on the data obtained and the scope of work performed.
