The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh retained GBBN Architects, Inc. (GBBN) to design renovations and a new addition to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Beechview Branch. The finished project reinforced the library’s position in the neighborhood as an inviting space, part of the fabric of the Beechview community.
As a member of GBBN’s design team, Sci-Tek provided site civil design services, including drawings and details for the application to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority. As part of the scope of work for this project, Sci-Tek provided services inclusive of project management planning, utilities coordination, design and demolition plans, stormwater management design, and facility permitting. Sci-Tek’s scope of work included:
- A project management plan and regular meetings to discuss progress and design.
- A PA One Call for utility coordination.
- A drawing and detailed plan for submission to Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority for the stormwater and sanitary fixtures.
- Erosion and sedimentation and stormwater management plans.
This project received a Certificate of Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Pittsburgh Chapter, and an AIA Pennsylvania Architectural Excellence Design Award. The judges noted that the renovation and addition to this library reinforce its position as part of neighborhood and the fabric of the community.
