Sci-Tek provided civil and environmental engineering services for the CCAC Ridge Avenue Revitalization (Backfill) Project at the Allegheny Campus. The project involved relocation of the arts and humanities programs from the Visual Arts Building to West Hall; enhanced student development and success programs to Foerster Student Service Center; new student life, retail and activity programs to the pool level of the Physical Education Building; and updates to the student support center and bookstore spaces in the Library Building.  Our scope of work included:

  • Review of available documents to obtain relevant information to be used in the report,
  • A PA One-Call for design purposes to identify utilities present in the area surrounding the buildings identified for improvements,
  • An assessment of the area surrounding the Physical Education Building and West Hall to identify areas that do not meet the ADA accessibility guidelines,
  • An assessment of utility capacity based on existing versus proposed usage and development of a utilities plan. The plan identified the locations for service connections to potable water, sanitary sewer, natural gas, electric, telephone, and cable television utilities, and provided details of the service connections in accordance with the requirements of each of the utility service providers,
  • A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment in accordance with US EPA’s All Appropriate Inquiry Rule and the American Society of Testing Material Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments (E1527-13),
  • A topographic survey of the Physical Education Building, Byers Hall, and West Hall of the existing site features within the extent of the limits of the work,
  • Site plans for submission to the City of Pittsburgh Planning Commission,
  • Site Civil Design for renovations to West Hall and the PE Building, and
  • Construction Administration Services including review of contractor submittals and preparation of responses to RFIs.
