Sci-Tek provided schematic design services for Sam Schwartz Transportation Consultants for the Broadway Avenue Public Realm (BAPR) Project, a redesign of a 1.2-mile stretch of Broadway Avenue between Wenzell and Fallowfield Avenues in the Beechview neighborhood of Pittsburgh for multimodal improvements. Our scope of work included:
- An analysis of stormwater mitigation potential and recommendations including site-specific areas for Green Stormwater Infrastructure.
- A survey of existing buildings, structures, and drainage features to confirm accuracy of the city’s existing data sets.
- A CAD drawing containing the points surveyed.
- Documentation of utility access points to confirm the general alignment of city water and sewer data, providing a snapshot of underground utility concerns.
- An assessment of existing features for 12 intersections including existing features such as buildings, curbs, sidewalks, retaining walls, culverts, swales, roads, parking areas, and above ground utility appurtenances such as manholes, storm drain structures, headwalls, endwalls, valves, fire hydrants, meters, handholes, poles, and lines.
- A qualitative and comparative assessment of the quality of the existing conditions of each intersection, including painted crosswalks, luminous sign signals, and truncated dome mats.
